Paul Samuel Norris

Paul Samuel NorrisToday at 5:41pm in El Paso, Erika and I had the privilege of meeting 7lb. 14oz. Paul Samuel Norris for the first time! The delivery was smooth and went without a hitch. Mother and baby are healthy and happy. All praise belongs to God! Erika and Paul are still at the hospital for the night and I have come home to tuck the rest of the family in. The kids were unanimously delighted to see the pictures. Even Ian, who is only two, was making declarations about the "baby" on the screen.

We have known (with reasonable certainty) that we were going to have another boy, so we have had the name picked out for a while. The kids love it and there are many positive family, friend, and historical associations with the names. Of course the puns have been going strong too. The kids are eager to meet "Paul the Ball" and Daniel has declared that things will go smoothly in the family with "Paul Bearing" around. Another reason we liked the name Paul was that it has a nice Spanish equivalent; Pablo. But the kids aren't so sure that "Pablo the Bablo" will be as funny.

But the best one is from Kathy Wolcott who observed that his initials are "P.S." We can see it now, "Here is the Norris Family. P.S. Here is one more!" Paul is certainly a pleasant "P.S." for us. Thank you Lord!
